It takes a village of people to save cat and kitten lives, and as a 100% volunteer organization we rely so much on the men and women who devote their time, skills, and effort to the cause. There are lots of different ways you can volunteer to help Cat Crusaders, but some of the primary areas that we need volunteers for are the following:
+Kenneling
Kennelers are responsible for taking care of the cats and kittens that are being shown at PetSmart, cleaning the cages, refilling food/water/litter, and playing with the cats so that they get plenty of exercise and love! We provide all training and materials, the cats provide the mess. There are a variety of morning and afternoon shifts available for our weekend kennelers.
+Adoption Counselors
Our Adoption Counselors are responsible for managing the teen volunteers, ensuring that the adoption center is in order, and (most importantly) facilitating adoptions, screening new families to help ensure they’ve made the right choice, and completing the adoption forms. If you love playing matchmaker, this will be right up your alley! There’s no formal experience needed, just a big heart, an outgoing personality, and a love for cats. We’ll provide extensive training, you bring a positive attitude and a desire to help homeless cats and kittens!
+Fundraising & Grant Writing
As with any non-profit, the scope of the work we’re able to do is completely dependent upon the donations we’re able to raise. Our fundraising team is crucial to ensuring that we’re able to raise the money necessary to save as many cats and kittens as possible! We’re in need of someone with grant writing and fundraising event coordination experience to assist our fundraising team. If this is a strength of yours, please consider utilizing your fundraising skills to help our organization! It’s one of the most rewarding volunteer positions because you’re able to see the fruits of your labors firsthand with every cat and kitten that is saved from euthanasia or rescued off the streets.
Other Volunteer Positions
Although Kenneling, Adoptions, and Fundraising are three of our biggest areas of need, there are lots of other ways that you can volunteer to help our organization if your talents aren’t quite suited to those positions! Some other volunteer areas include:
Website
Social media
Graphic design
Clerical work
Friday night cage set-up
Laundry
Data entry
Medical team
Volunteering with Cat Crusaders is a great way to earn community service hours.
